First of all let me say, on behalf of the club, a big thank you to our incredible sponsors for their continued support. As a club, we need to continue to support them, so let them know you are a FLRC club member and thank them for their support when you order parts.
Unfortunately, I was only able to make it up to the Fall Rally for the day on Saturday last month, but it I must have caught the best part. The trails were still holding some door handle deep water and the mud was thick as ever. Even though I was truckless I managed to hitch a ride for the day with Cory. My oldest, Jasper IV, tagged along and we had a blast. We actually all made it back in time for dinner too, even though a couple trucks were in tow in typical FLRC fashion! Our raffle is always exciting and I bought my staple of tickets and a few 50/50s to boot. Well maybe next year...
As many of you know, we donate to charities, most notably: Friends of the Florida Forests, All Children's Hospital, and now the Neonatal ICU at St Joe's Hospital. A big thank you to our longest standing board member, Sean and Deb Heisler and their families, for generously adding to our donation to the Neonatal ICU at St Joe's Hospital. Also a big, thank you to each and every one of you who bought raffle and 50/50 tickets for making this happen. This will go a long way to helping kids get supplies and toys over the upcoming holiday season.
Speaking of holiday season, you guys and gals need to dig deep for the All Childrens Hospital Toy Drive. If you cant make the Toy Drive Trail Run, then please send your unwrapped toy to directly to me, heck you can just order online and send it to my house. [Gordon Turner, 918 22nd St W, Bradenton FL 34205.] The club has already committed but I like filling that clothes hamper up so come strong! Remember its a time to be thankful for all we have and give to those in need.
Back to business briefly, When I was VP years ago Mike and I always posted up the numbers from the rally. I don't have the numbers exactly from the fall, but I can tell you we lost money, about 1700 bucks. Hey it happens, Ed did a tremendous job, but with the economy and then several regulars (myself included) not making it out, our turn out was down. Also we collect dues in Spring usually so our intake is typically down in the fall. Thankfully, (Kudos Dave/Ed!) we are in a good spot as a club and we can handle it. I'm going to explore ideas to lower cost and I will post them on the board for vote/comment. I invite your comments and suggestions at anytime.
Keep a lookout for upcoming updates on the Spring Rally, some trail runs, and chatter on the board.
Oh yeah and, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New year!
