Fall Rally 2005…Rover Yacht Club in Richloam, October 28, 29 & 30th

What's a Happening my Fellow Rover Yacht Club members?

Catchy Slogan don't you think? Shoot, I think someone wrote a song about our club!!

The Fall Rally is just around the corner. YEEE HAAAA!!! Just over one month from now we will all be trail riding in the beautiful Richloam Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest. For those that have not been there before, this is the place to wheel on the West Coast of Florida. Richloam has many great trails with water being the main obstacle. This will be our second time holding a Rally in Richloam.

Richloam is my favorite spot to wheel in Florida. It has everything you could want. We will have trails for every ability level. Beginner trails are difficult to find, but we do have a few mapped out. Most trails are intermediate to advanced with the major challenges being mud and water. We also have several "extreme" runs that you hardcore fans will appreciate. If you are a beginner, come prepared to enjoy some leisurely strolls through the woods with some water and mud along the way. Hey! Just because you may be driving a stock D1, doesn't mean you can't get her a little dirty. You hardcore fanatics, well you've probably been to Richloam before and know what's ahead. All skill levels will have a terrific trail riding experience. I assure you!

Campgrounds: Cypress Glen and Crooked River
We will be staying at a different campground than last year. The campground is located about 3 miles off Hwy 50 and Croom Rital Road. There are three campgrounds all in the same area. We will be staying at Cypress Glenn with Crooked River being the overflow. This is a first come, first serve facility. Pets are allowed at the campgrounds. The campgrounds do have amenities and are approximately 15 minutes from the first trial.
Directions to Cypress Glenn and Crooked River Campground
Head North from Tampa on I-75.
Exit at State Road 50 (SR50) near Brooksville.
Head East for one mile.
Turn left (North) at Croom Rital Road(this is where the Florida Trail overpass crosses SR50).
Where Croom Rital road hits the interstate, turn Right at the Cypress Glenn/Crooked River campground sign.

Rally Costs:
The Rally Fee (a.k.a "T-shirt fee") is $15 which buys you a rally T-shirt and sticker (both designed by LeeAnn Jones), your Vehicle Participation Windshield Sticker and all the Rover fellowship you can eat. You will also be able to partake in our famous raffle to win some awesome off-road equipment supplied by our sponsors (see above for sponsor list), as arranged by Mike and Gordo. Also, expect our usual Saturday evening Rover-barbeque-dinner ($10 per person) just before the raffle and club business.

Rally Notes
We will be having mandatory drivers meetings this year. They will be held Friday around 6:30PM and Saturday around 9:30AM. We feel this is a necessity and will go a long way in solidifying our relationship with the Forestry Personnel. Also, each trail ride will be headed by the trail leader. This person will be responsible for the members on their outing. Please listen and respect this person. He/She can get you booted off the trail run.

During the weeks prior to the rally, we will be scouting out trails for the rally.....important homework! (watch the bulletin board) As always, lets pay attention to trail safety and the tread lightly principles.....see you at the rally, and bring your first mate as the Rover Yacht Club is coming to town!

Happy Wheelin!!

Mike
