The time has come, the time is now and Spring is in the air. Come and join the Florida Land Rover Club at our
Spring Rally. We will have everything from Stock Disco's to Monster Trucks, Hardcore Mud Trails to
Leisurely Strolls through the woods. We'll have the infamous Car Wash and Wooden Bridge (hopefully rain will come).
We'll have the 3-hour, ¼ mile trail. There will be something for everyone. If you have never been off-road before,
we have trails for you to see what your Rover is capable of doing. If you're hard-core, we have what you need.
We anticipate a broad mix of capabilities and we will have something to cater to everyone.
The club voted at the Fall Rally to hold the Spring Rally in Osceola National Forest. We will be camping at
Ocean Pond, which is a state run waterfront campground located in Olustee. Ocean Pond is well equipped for
those staying in tents and those staying in RV's. Campsites are first come, first serve, so get there early if you can.
There are 2 nearby campgrounds for overflow situations if needs be. I do not think we have had to resort to that yet.
It is a little more spread out than we are used to, but has great facilities and a terrific waterfront view.
We will be holding this years Rally about 1 month earlier than last year, so there ought to be no bugs.
Directions
The Ocean Pond campground is located outside of Olustee, FL, just off Highway 90 about twelve miles east of Lake City.
Take exit 324 off of I-10 and head West on US 90. Go about 5 miles and turn right (north) onto CR 250A
(there is a sign for Ocean Pond campground, GPS N30 12.382 - W82 24.599). The entrance to Ocean Pond is a couple of
miles down on the left, past FR 266 (look for the 'campground' sign, GPS N30 14.900 - W82 26.412). view a map of Ocean Pond
See the following site for more information on Ocean Pond
(please note, some of the information on that link is outdated, as the Ocean Pond campground *does* have electric available)
Please check the bulletin board for event specifics, details and last minute changes.
Please feel free to post any questions to the board, or email the President, Mike Costello lcostell@tampabay.rr.com
Fees and Specifics
Rally Registration will be Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at Ocean Pond. There will be a Rally fee
(a.k.a. T-Shirt and Sticker Fee) of $15 per vehicle. This is typically a members only event, however, this year we
will allow Non-FLRC Members to join us for $30 per vehicle. We will be allowing full-year memberships for anyone who
wants to join the club on the spot.
The traditional Saturday Night BBQ dinner will be $10 a head, and additional t-shirts
can be purchased for $15 each.
The Rally raffle will be immediately following the BBQ dinner on Saturday.
We expect to have a great raffle with lots of goodies. If you have ever been to one of our Rally's and participated
in the raffle, you know our sponsors come through with some great products. Raffle tickets will be $2 each or 6 for $10.
The camping fees for Ocean Pond are as follows (please check with the camp ground for any changes), and must be paid directly to the on-site host:
Full hook-ups - $18 a night, water only - $12 a night, tent sites - $8 a night. First come, first served basis for
all sites. Maximum of 5 people allowed in a single campsite (this was flexible). Each site has a lantern post,
picnic table, and fire ring, with convenient access to drinking water, restrooms and showers. Most sites have tent
pads; many also have room for various size trailers.
We would also like to thank and recognize the folks that have committed to sponsoring our Spring Rally.
These are in no particular order and we wish to thank them all equally. Without their support we would not have a
raffle and probably would not be able to operate the club. Please buy from one of our sponsors whenever possible.
When buying, please thank them for supporting the FLRC. I appreciate them and know you all do as well.
Also, we would like to thank Mark Kaz, our Rally Master, for taking the time to coordinate everything that goes into
the Rallies. Without Mark, we'd all be riding around with doors on, scouting trails all day.
I would also like to thank our officers: Gordon Turner, VP ("Gordo"), for being instrumental in the T-Shirt and Sticker design. Sean Hiesler, Treasurer, for taking care of the money. Shoot, What money? Tej Patel, Secretary, for buying a beater Rangie: now he can ride with the big boys. What does he do for the club anyway? Jonathan Galpin, Programmer, for taking such good care of our website.
We will be providing an event schedule soon. As always, watch the bulletin board!
