Spring Rally - April 19 - 21, 2002
Come and join the Florida Land Rover Club for our annual Spring
Rally. This is a great event for the whole family; even if you have
never been off-road before. We'll have trail rides, a trials course, and
of course our famous BBQ dinner Saturday evening.
The event will be held in the Osceola National Forest. The campground is
quite primitive, so either be ready to rough it, or make arrangements at the
Days Inn down the road, it's only about 10 minutes from the Rally HQ. Our
Rallies are usually quite casual, with groups of vehicles getting together for
trail rides in the morning, afternoon, and usually a late night on
Saturday. There will also be a trials course setup on Saturday, and
if you've never tried one, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to
test the abilities of your vehicle and yourself in a fun, safe
environment.
The event will be fun for all Land Rovers, from stock Range Rovers to modified
Series trucks and everything in between. Depending on the weather,
Osceola can have some pretty deep water crossings and a good bit of mud.
Make sure to drive within your abilities, and never attempt to drive over
or through an obsacle that you aren't comfortable with. Most mud and
water areas have easier by passes.
Fees and Specifics
The Spring Rally is held at the Fire Tower campsite in the Osceola National
Forest. The state charges a small per night camping fee, which is paid
via the drop box located by the tower. The rally fees are usually around
$10-15 per family, and included dinner. As we set the final dates and
activities, the cost will be updated.
Directions
Take I75 North to I10. Head east to and exit at US Hwy 441. From
there go North approximately 2 miles to Christie Rd (on the right).
Follow Christie Rd (it becomes dirt) over a small bridge and bear right at the
fork onto Forest rd 233. Go straight through the FR crossing and look for
the fire tower on your right. The campsite is by the tower.
As the date approaches, check the bulletin board for event specifics and
details. If you have any questions, email the club Prez, Gene Nault
